The Final Product

The casing for this experience will be mounted against a wall in the space, with the screen set inside it. As the user aproaches it, they will be unable to view the screen unless they move very close and hold on to the bars.

When they do so, the image will noticeably shift. The user then discovers that movement in the bars causes a progression in the series of images, and with repetitive shaking, they can make their way through the space.

As they do so, they will encounter a progression of images. These images are taken from the Alexander Turnbull Library and show the people who worked on or were imprisoned on Somes Island as Enemy Aliens during the war. The concept behind this interaction is that the user feels just like one of them, showing that they were no different from the user themself.
