The creation of the instillation started with the quartz patch. First I discovered a way to have a simulated 3d space through the progression of images, then moved onto creating a progression through them based on erratic mouse movement. Shaking the X and Y axis caused a counter to increase, which then decreased at a regular rate. This counter was fed into the position of the 3d space, and for demonstrative purposes, blank colours were used as placeholders for images.
All images were obtained from the Alexander Turnbull Library, with permission to be used for academic purposes only.
The model itself began as a flat piece of board, which was sliced into sections. It was then bolted together, and the window was cut. It was then sanded down, and spray painted over. The bar holders were then put in place.
The mouse had it's buttons removed, and one rewired to sit outside the structure as a reset button. However, one of the wires severed, and so I was forced to use a backup mouse, which had to be taped on to the bars.
